ESG

In conversation with Johnny Caddick & Tony Brooks

As we launch our latest ESG report, we have taken the opportunity to step back and review our year - from the growth of the business to the progress we've made on our goals since we launched our Next Generation Futures Strategy back in 2022.

2023 has continued to be a positive year of growth for Moda Group. We now have a pipeline of 24,000 homes with a value of £6.8bn across out growing portfolio of city centre build-to-rent, student homes, and our family homes brand, Casa by Moda.

Creating thousands of much-needed, high quality new homes in key locations across the UK, we take our role seriously as the long-term custodians of the communities in which we operate and understand that creating a lasting impact for generations to come is essential.

With social impact at the forefront of what we do, our work starts way before we welcome our first residents, helping to support existing communities, fostering new public-private partnerships and working on placemaking and cultural activations that enhance existing locations. Over the last year in Leeds, we created a brand-new place for culture and creativity in the city centre with Canvas Yard, a site where we will be creating a future city district. We've also progressed ambitious public art strategy at Moda, Hove Central, working collaboratively with the council and local community to invest £450,000, including three 250 metre murals on the site retaining wall, a brand-new ambitious sculpture on Hove seafront, partnering on Brighton Festival and commissioning four new public art pieces across the scheme. We improved our GRESB building certification by 20 points due to the significant progress we have made on the sustainability of our developments as well as continuing to take steps on our commitment to achieve net zero carbon by 2030.

At our neighbourhoods, our mission to deliver and operate next generation spaces for people to live, work and play has never been stronger. Wellbeing is at the core of what we do and our dedicated on-site teams run hundreds of events each year with both national and independent businesses, focussing on health, culture, and fostering a sense of connection and community with and between our residents.

Continuing to champion the global Fitwel certification system, we continue to drive our neighbourhoods to deliver top rated 3 star in construction and operation. With the addition of Holland Park in Glasgow this year, we now hold the most 3 star Fitwel accreditations globally.

We are making good progress on our 2025 Next Generation Futures goals, in 2024, we will continue to implement strategies to reach existing targets as well as further align ourselves to Sustainable Finance Disclosures Regulation (SFDR) requirements - a key focus for the business as we grow. There is always more we can strive to do; we're continually improving our Next Generation Futures strategy looking for ways to enhance the communities we operate in and to safeguard the future of the planet.
